An exciting opportunity is available for a Nurse Manager Grade 2 to join the dedicated team at Murrurundi Hospital. This role offers the chance to lead a committed nursing workforce while delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to the local community. Murrurundi Hospital provides a broad range of healthcare services within a welcoming rural setting, offering a unique opportunity to build strong relationships with patients, staff and the wider community. You will be supported through a comprehensive orientation and onboarding program, with ongoing mentoring from the Health Service Manager – Scone and Murrurundi Hospitals. You'll also have access to extensive clinical, operational and leadership support networks across Hunter New England Health. What You Will Be Doing
As Nurse Manager, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership of nursing services at Murrurundi Hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care across the facility. You will lead a close-knit multidisciplinary team focused on clinical excellence, innovation, continuous improvement and exceptional patient outcomes. you will support nursing staff while overseeing workforce management, rostering, performance development, clinical governance, quality and safety activities, accreditation requirements and service improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with medical officers, allied health professionals and support services, you will ensure effective service delivery across inpatient, emergency, aged care and community health services. You will also contribute to strategic planning and operational priorities while fostering a positive workplace culture that supports staff wellbeing, engagement and professional growth. Reporting to the Health Service Manager, you will play an important role in shaping healthcare outcomes for the local community.
About you
You are an experienced and approachable nursing leader who is passionate about rural healthcare and committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
You will bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a healthcare setting
- Experience working within an Emergency Department and a current Triage Certificate
- Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution abilities
- Sound knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement principles
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and support multidisciplinary teams
- Resilience, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities
- You will be a collaborative and solutions-focused leader who values teamwork, supports staff development and is committed to building strong relationships across the health service and local community.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing, Health Management, Leadership or a related field, or willingness to work towards
- Previous leadership experience within a rural health service
Experience in workforce planning, budget management, quality improvement or accreditation activities
