About the Role
Football Star Academy (Coogee) is seeking motivated, high-energy Casual Coaching Assistants to service our growing programs across Perth's southern suburbs. This position is ideally suited for undergraduate students in Physical Education, Sports Science, Exercise Science, or Primary School Teaching who want to gain valuable, hands-on classroom and behavior management experience while getting paid.
You will work directly under a Head Coach with more than 15 years of physical education pedagogy and youth coaching experience across Singapore and Western Australia. Our mentorship program has a proven track record of academic success; our Head Coach has mentored more than 10 university undergraduates, with all recent practicum students achieving Distinction and Credit-equivalent grades on their placements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in delivering high-quality, high-participation youth soccer sessions.
- Apply contemporary pedagogical frameworks including Game Sense, Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU), and Constraints-Led Coaching.
- Implement effective behavior management and child engagement strategies in a dynamic group environment.
- Manage small-group teaching structures to maximize player participation and decision-making.
- Assist with session setup, pack-down, and maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.

- Competitive Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per training session (not including Superannuation).

Requirements and Qualifications:
- Currently studying an undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Primary Teaching, Sports Science, Exercise Science, or a related education discipline (preferred but not mandatory if you have strong equivalent experience).
- Passionate about working with children and fostering a healthy, lifelong interest in physical activity.
- Reliable, proactive, punctual, and eager to learn practical class management strategies.
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one is mandatory.
- Prior soccer coaching or playing experience is highly regarded, but an education-focused mindset and willingness to learn are our top priorities.
Location: Fremantle, Melville, Beeliar, and surrounding suburbs (Required)
