We are now looking for a General Accountant who is proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to take a hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is not just a back-office role, your contribution will play a key part in the success and growth of the company.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements for presentation to directors and management, providing assurance regarding the accuracy of information contained in financial reports.
- Assist in formulating budgetary and accounting policies and appraise the cash flow and financial risk of business operations and capital investments.
- Examine operating costs and the organisation's income and expenditure, providing critical insights and financial advice to management to optimize business structures and plans.
- Appraise financial risk and advise on profitability margins by incorporating precious metal (gold & silver) market price movements into strategic forecasting and capital planning.
- Conduct financial investigations, undertake internal audits, and prepare detailed reports for management to advise on risk mitigation, financial integrity, and business operations.
- Introduce, evaluate, and maintain robust internal control systems and advise on the application of computer-based accounting systems to ensure data integrity across the organisation's financial records.
- Provide assurance that all financial reports comply strictly with statutory requirements, provide high-level taxation advice, and oversee the preparation of taxation returns for the organisation.
- Advise on and oversee the financial frameworks governing payroll expenditures, supplier arrangements, and working capital, ensuring strict compliance with internal accounting policies.
Skill Level and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting.
- Approximately 12 months of relevant accounting experience.
- Proficiency in XERO, any inventory management software (Cin7/VEND), and Microsoft Office.
- Must have knowledge in precious metal industry operations including buying and selling gold and other materials from the public in compliance with Federal Government legislation.
- Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Works independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability in problem solving and process improvements.
- Ability to travel.
