Full Job Description

Come and join us at The South Eastern Hotel, part of Matthews Hospitality Group, a pioneering South Australian family business with 80 years of history. Our core philosophy is making others feel good, feels great!

Since undergoing an extensive refurbishment, our interior décor and hotel accommodation is in keeping with a hotel steeped in history contributing to the local community, new tastefully modernised without losing its old-world charm.

The South Eastern Hotel invites applications for an experienced Cook.

Location: The South Eastern Hotel, 235 Commercial St E, Mount Gambier SA 5290

Full time: 38 hours per week

Salary: $76,515.00 per annum + Superannuation

Key Responsibilities:

Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
Preparing and cooking food
Seasoning food during cooking
Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
May plan menus and estimate food requirements
May train other kitchen staff and apprentices

Required skills and attributes:

Minimum three years’ experience in a fast-paced kitchen, qualifications preferable
A career-focused progression as a Cook with a passion for food;
Ability to be adaptable and work various shifts across a 7-day operation;
Previous experience in a high volume a la carte restaurant environment;
Attention to detail;
Strong work ethic;
Excellent communication skills;
As you are working in an Open Kitchen, Cook must have a good kitchen
temperament and personal presentation;
Being a team member;
