We are seeking a motivated and proactive Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team on a full time contract.
This is a live-in position, and the successful applicant will be required to reside on the mountain. With potential to move into a management role from October.
The Buller Housekeeping Team maintain a number of accommodation houses, and private apartments, as well as general public cleaning of all venues, staff accommodation houses, offices and buildings utilised by Buller Ski Lifts.
About the Role
This is a hands-on and highly versatile position that varies significantly between peak winter season and quieter summer periods.

Winter (Peak Season): Fast-paced environment, supporting a large team and high guest turnover

Summer (Off-Peak): Smaller team, more independent work, with a focus on deep cleaning, maintenance, and operational preparation
You will need to be adaptable, organised, and confident supporting both team leadership and operational delivery across changing seasonal demands.
Key Responsibilities
Team Supervision & Leadership

Supervise a team of up to 40 staff during winter, and a smaller team (approx. 3 - 4 staff) during off-peak periods

Conduct recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and training of team members

Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members
-
Visit public areas and apartments across the mountain to inspect work and ensure it meets required standards

Promote clear communication and a positive team environment
Operations & Coordination
-
Prepare and oversee staff rosters
-
Monitor stock control, ordering, and inventory processes
-
Coordinate seasonal shutdown and reopening cleans of staff accommodations

Communicate with Hotel Manager, Apartments Coordinator & Front office Manager to support smooth day-to-day operations

Report maintenance issues and ensure compliance with operational standards
Housekeeping & Cleaning Duties

Perform general housekeeping and public area cleaning, including:

Vacuuming, mopping, and deep cleaning

Bed making and linen changes
-
Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, and shared spaces
-
Inspect rooms and public areas prior to guest arrival

Maintain cleanliness across guest accommodation, staff housing, offices, and resort facilities

Follow safe handling procedures for cleaning chemicals and equipment

Undertake physically demanding tasks as required
We’re looking for people with:
-
Prior cleaning and/or housekeeping experience – preferred
-
Full drivers licence with full rights in Australia

Supervision experience
-
Customer service experience, preferably in a hotel or related field - preferred

Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position with guest interaction - required

Ability to lift, pull, and push moderate to heavy amount of weight - required
-
Able to stand for long periods of time in excess of 4 hours without sitting - required

Able to reach, balance, crouch, stoop and bend frequently throughout the day – required

Honest, trustworthy and reliable - required

Flexibility to work early and/or late shifts is essential - required

Must live on Mountain during winter and summer

Must be willing to be on call
