TOROS STEAK HOUSE is seeking an experienced and qualified Chef de Partie(Chef) to join our professional kitchen team in Mount Barker, South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes in accordance with Lone Star Rib House & Brews recipes, menu specifications, and presentation standards.
- Take responsibility for an assigned kitchen section and ensure smooth operation during service.
- Prepare meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sauces, garnishes, and other ingredients as required.
- Cook steaks, ribs, burgers, sides, and other menu items to required quality and customer specifications.
- Monitor food quality, taste, portion size, temperature, and presentation before service.
- Ensure all mise en place is completed before each service period.
- Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure orders are prepared accurately and on time.
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations.
- Supervise and provide guidance to junior cooks, kitchen hands, and apprentices when required.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels within the assigned section.
- Assist with receiving, checking, storing, and rotating food deliveries.
- Minimise food waste and assist with food cost and portion control.
- Follow FIFO stock rotation procedures and correct food storage practices.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation throughout the kitchen.
- Comply with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
- Monitor refrigeration and food holding temperatures and maintain relevant records where required.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with menu preparation, specials, and new dish development where required.
- Accommodate customer dietary requirements and food allergies in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain efficient performance during busy lunch, dinner, weekend, and public holiday services.
- Perform other reasonable kitchen duties as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Minimum 1+ years of relevant full-time commercial kitchen experience.
- Strong cooking, food preparation, and presentation skills.
- Experience supervising kitchen staff.
- Knowledge of food safety, stock control, food costing, and waste management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Experience working with steaks, ribs, grills, and high-volume restaurant service is advantageous.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
