The Team & Role
We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Clinical or Health Psychologist to join our Acute Rehab Program based at Peninsula University Hospital for a limited term part time position until March 2027.
The Acute Rehabilitation Program (ARP) is an interdisciplinary service that provides early rehabilitation in an acute setting. The Psychologist in the Acute Rehabilitation Program works with the multidisciplinary team to assist patients in regaining their function and independence and facilitate an early supported discharge home where appropriate.
We are seeking a grade 2 or grade 3 Clinical or Health Psychologist to manage referrals and provide evidence- based high quality assessment, interventions, including brief interventions and positive behaviour support, and assist with linking patients and families into appropriate and ongoing psychological support pathways post-discharge.
Part of the role will also include supporting the wider medical, nursing and allied health teams in case formulation, providing positive behaviour support strategies and discharge planning. Referrals will be varied due to the complexity of medical conditions and co-morbid mental health issues that may be contributing to challenges in recovery. Maintaining a high-quality Psychology service, initiating educational opportunities for staff members, and contributing to the overall Inpatient Psychology/Neuropsychology service such as participating in quality improvement activities, is also a responsibility for the Clinical or Health Psychologist.
We have a very supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team and work closely with the acute Allied Health teams and ward based nursing and medical teams across all medical and surgical wards at Peninsula University Hospital.

Skills & Experience Required
- Postgraduate qualification in psychology
- Hold current general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
- Hold an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical or Health Psychology (or working towards same) is desired
- Demonstrated clinical competence in the field of psychology
- Valid Victorian Driver's Licence
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a generally registered Psychologist or 5 years of experience if seeking Grade 3 Classification (desirable)
- Prior experience working in a hospital setting is desired (desirable)
A special interest in health psychology and physical rehabilitation is desired (desirable)
