We're The Smile Place Mt Eliza — a well-established, patient-centred dental practice tucked just off the Nepean Highway with sea breezes and a team that genuinely likes coming to work.
We're looking for a full-time Dental Assistant to join our clinical team. Whether you're already qualified, or you've been dreaming of getting into dental and want to train on the job — we'd love to hear from you.
A bit about us. We're a busy, modern, general dental practice on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Our patients are loyal (some have been with us for decades), our team is collaborative, and our standards are high — but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We believe great dentistry starts with a great team culture.
What you'll actually be doing
- Chairside assisting across general, cosmetic and restorative procedures
- Setting up, packing down and turning over operatories like a well-oiled machine
- Sterilising and processing instruments in line with our Infection Control Manual
- Looking after patients before, during and after their appointments — especially the nervous ones
- Helping with future treatment bookings and supporting our reception team when things get busy
- Processing dental radiographs
- Keeping our clinical supplies stocked and our clinical areas spotless
- Being a positive, dependable member of our practice team
Who we're hoping to meet
If you're already qualified
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting
- Current Victorian radiation licence
- Some chairside experience — even one year makes a difference
- Familiarity with practice management software (Ultimo Software)
If you're a trainee starting out
- A genuine interest in dentistry and patient care
- Willingness to enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Dental Assisting while working with us
- Reliability, punctuality and a good attitude — these matter more than experience
- You will be trained on the job and will also need to sign up for a training program with an accredited, local training institute
Either way, you'll need
- The right to work in Australia
- Strong communication skills and a warm chairside manner
- The ability to stay calm and organised when the day gets busy
- Attention to detail — particularly around infection control
- A team-first mindset (we genuinely don't do drama)
