About the Role
We're looking for a Finance Officer (Brigades) commencing immediately through to 16 October 2026, on a full-time or part time (0.6) basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support CFA's Brigade Finance function by building strong partnerships with District and Regional staff.
The role, located at either District 14 in Melton or District 7 in North Geelong, supports the Brigade Finance function by providing guidance and mentoring to volunteers on financial management, ensuring compliance with legislation and CFA policies. In this role, you will gain a strong understanding of assigned brigades' and groups' financial activities, conduct assurance checks, report findings, and help CFA meet its compliance and reporting obligations.
About you
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of personnel, particularly volunteers.

High level written and verbal communications skills and ability to compile databases and reports utilising appropriate computer applications (word processing, spread sheets, bookkeeping packages).

Experience in working to timelines and briefs with minimal disruption to other stakeholders.

Demonstrated results orientation, including the ability to meet deadlines for the delivery of defined outputs, reports and other data as appropriate.

Experience working with spreadsheets and accounting software packages such as Xero and SAP is highly advantageous.

Understanding of the CFA volunteer ethos.

Good understanding of financial reports and accounting concepts to apply to an internal assurance program, reviewing brigade financial activity.
This position may involve travel and after-hours work at times. The successful candidate will have access to a CFA pool car for this purpose. A driver's licence is required.
