The Moroka Program Manager is an integral part of the Ballerrt Yeram-boo-ee Forensic Mental Health Services leadership team operating from the Ravenhall Correction Centre. The Moroka Program is aimed at addressing the needs of prisoners/patients with complex and challenging behaviours associated with mental illness through the provision of specialist assessment, mental health care and treatment and behavioural interventions.
The Moroka Program consists of four key components:
- Moroka – 10 beds
- Specialist Consultation Services
- Staff Training, and
- Program Evaluation and Research.
The Program Manager has responsibility and accountability for providing high level management and direction for the overall operation of the Program including planning, development of human, physical and financial resources, and overseeing the delivery of multi-disciplinary services. They provide leadership and line management/supervision to staff in the Moroka Program.
This position engages with other Ravenhall Correctional Centre managers and service providers across Justice Health, Forensicare, GEO custodial and program staff, to improve and maintain the Program and service’s management, clinical, educational and support activities. The position must provide direction and support that is aligned to the outcomes of the Forensicare Strategic Plan, the National Mental Health Standards, the Mental Health and wellbeing Act 2024, the Corrections Act 1986 and other relevant legislation, standards and competencies

Professional requirements:
- Nursing:
- Approved qualification in nursing (Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent)
- Registration with the Australian Health Pracritioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Recent experience in community or prisons mental health setting or a demonstration of
significant and extensive experience working within a secondary/tertiary mental health service.
- Psychology:
- Holds general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) or, for overseas-trained psychologists, be eligible for a PsyBA transitional program to attain general registration
- Has completed a minimum of a Level 3 and 4 APAC-accredited Psychology training sequence (i.e., Masters or Doctorate) in one or more of the following Areas of Practice Endorsement (AoPE):
Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, and/or Forensic Psychology
- Must have or be eligible for an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and/or forensic psychology.
- Psychologists with Forensic AoPE alone will need to demonstrate the necessary education, training, and experience in clinical psychology needed to work in forensic mental health settings.
- Occupational Therapy:
- Must hold an approved degree in Occupational Therapy and eligible for registration with OT Australia
- Hold current AHPRA registration
- Social Work: -
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work
- Eligible for membership with the AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers).
- Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are encouraged to apply.
