About the Role:

An opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department Education team as a Clinical Nurse Educator in a part time (0.6 EFT, 48hrs per fortnight) ongoing position. Working closely with the ED senior leadership team you will be responsible for the provision of continuing professional development for nurses across the RCH ED career progression pathway as they develop skills from an entry level through to advanced clinical standing.

Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Clinical Nurse Educator, Emergency Department.

Classification for this position is in accordance with Award 22 - Registered Nurses and is classified as RN35 (Educator), with a salary of $128,102 per annum (FTE, pro rata for part-time, plus superannuation).

What you'll achieve:

Lead the development, coordination and implementation of education programmes, study days and/or educational activities for nurses in collaboration with other members of the Nursing Education team
Provide nursing education regarding organisational imperatives, changes or clinical updates as required
Collaborate with Nursing Education Coordinator, Critical Care Division, the ED NUM and Nursing Education team colleagues to identify the education needs of nurses within the Emergency Department
Demonstrate advanced strategic thinking skills when developing, implementing and evaluating education initiatives
Promote and encourage evidence-based practice and education

Your skills and experience:

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio
Post Graduate Certificate in Nursing, Education, Paediatrics, ED or equivalent
Demonstrated understanding and experience of adult learning principles
Experience working with learning management systems
Extensive peadiatric Emergency Department clinical experience
Clinical Support Nurse or equivalent
Preceptorship experience and knowledge
Small or large group teaching experience

About the Department:

The Royal Children’s Hospital Emergency Department provides emergency care to children with ages ranging from newborns to adolescents up the age of 18. Operating 24 hours, 7 days a week, approximately 90,000 patients are seen each year which equates to 250 patients per day, on average. The department includes 4 triage cubicles, 4 resus cubicles, 2 negative pressure isolation cubicles, 20 general assessment cubicles, 10 Fastrack care bays and 8 short stay bays.
