Location: St Kilda / Melbourne
Hours: 15–20 hours per week
Type: Part-time / casual
Start: As soon as possible
I’m looking for a reliable, organised and practical assistant to help across a mix of admin, operations, research and project support.
This role would suit a capable uni student, recent graduate, or someone looking for flexible part-time work who is comfortable jumping between different tasks and learning as they go.
You’ll be working directly with me across a few different businesses and projects, including technology, telecommunications, digital inclusion initiatives, and community-focused projects.
What the role involves
Tasks may include:
- General admin and inbox support
- Preparing documents, forms and basic reports
- Researching suppliers, products, grants, contacts or opportunities
- Calling or emailing organisations, suppliers or government departments
- Helping organise project information and follow-ups
- Basic data entry and spreadsheet work
- Assisting with logistics, ordering, deliveries and small operational tasks
- Helping keep things moving when there are a lot of loose ends
The work will be varied. Some days may involve emails and research; other days may involve organising equipment, chasing suppliers, preparing documents, or helping with community-focused projects.
About you
You don’t need to know everything already. The most important things are that you are:
- Reliable and responsive
- Organised and good at following through
- Comfortable asking questions when something is unclear
- A decent writer who can send clear emails
- Confident using Google Docs, email, spreadsheets and basic online tools
- Practical and willing to figure things out
- Able to work independently once given direction
- Comfortable dealing with different types of people and organisations
You don’t need a specific degree or background, but experience with admin, customer service, research, operations, tech, government processes, community services or small business would be helpful.
Nice to have, but not required
Any of the following would be a bonus:
- Experience with Notion, Airtable, Trello, Slack or similar tools
- Basic understanding of technology or telecommunications
- Experience helping with grants, tenders, applications or formal documents
- Interest in social impact, digital inclusion, housing, homelessness or community work
About the work
This is not a traditional corporate assistant role. It’s a flexible, hands-on support role where you’ll help across a range of practical and operational tasks.
You’ll need to be comfortable with things changing quickly and with the fact that not every task will come with a perfect step-by-step process. I’m looking for someone who can help create order, follow up properly, and make sure things don’t get forgotten.
Some work can be done remotely, but being able to meet in or around St Kilda sometimes would be useful.
