About the role

We're seeking a Tax Consultant to join our Taxation team for a fixed-term period, supporting our tax compliance, technical advisory, and strategic project work across the Transurban Group.

You'll join a collaborative and high-performing team who pride themselves on delivering technical excellence while working closely with Finance, Legal, Treasury, and senior leadership to drive strategic outcomes.

As our Tax Consultant, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It's meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

Prepare and coordinate corporate income tax returns and tax effect accounting for half-year and full-year reporting periods, liaising with external advisers and the Finance team
Conduct tax technical research and draft Reasonably Arguable Position papers, supporting documentation and presentations for senior management
Support tax structuring for major infrastructure projects, working cross-functionally to implement transactions and ensure compliance with legislation and internal policies
Maintain tax technology systems including CCH Integrator and Workday fixed asset registers, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:

Tertiary qualification with CA/CPA/TIA, tax postgraduate degree, or legal professional qualification, plus 5+ years' technical tax experience in a chartered firm or corporate environment
Strong technical understanding of corporate tax, particularly tax effect accounting, structuring, and compliance across complex group structures
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, non-technical language for senior stakeholders
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Collaborative mindset with the confidence to work independently, bring innovative solutions, and contribute to a flexible team culture
