For over 40 years Women’s Legal Service Victoria (Women’s Legal) has championed women’s rights to live free from violence. We are a dedicated team with a passion for working with women and non-binary people to live free from violence and discrimination by:

Providing high quality integrated legal services for Victorian women and non-binary people who are victim-survivors of family violence and disadvantaged or marginalised by structural and systemic barriers.
Building the capacity of professionals who work with women and non-binary people, to better understand the law and navigate the legal system safely.
Advancing gender equality by challenging unsafe and discriminatory policies and laws and informing and advocating for legal and policy initiatives that respect and promote the rights of women and non-binary people.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role across the full employee lifecycle. You’ll partner closely with hiring managers and the People & Culture Manager to deliver high-quality HR support and continuously improve our people systems and processes.

From attracting and onboarding great talent to supporting employee experience, HR operations, and compliance, your work will directly help our teams thrive.

Talent acquisition & onboarding:

Lead end-to-end recruitment, from updating position descriptions, crafting job ads to coordinating interviews and issuing contracts
Deliver a seamless onboarding experience so new hires feel set up for success from day one
Provide a high-touch, engaging candidate experience
Support probation processes and onboarding insights and reporting

People & culture operations:

Provide first-level HR advice and support across the organisation
Process all variations to employment terms and conditions ensuring compliance to relevant awards, agreements, policies and procedures
Maintain and improve HR policies, procedures and systems
Oversee the offboarding process, exit interview coordination and reporting
Ensure accurate employee records and compliance with awards and legislation

Learning & development:

Support training programs and maintain learning systems
Assist with performance and development systems administration, processes and reporting

HR systems & reporting:

Be a key admin level user of systems like Employment Hero, Culture Amp and SharePoint
Maintain data integrity and produce meaningful surveys, analytics and reports
Improve workflows and drive efficiencies across P&C processes

About You

You’re an experienced People & Culture Advisor/Officer who brings strong end-to-end HR capability across operations, systems, policies and processes, and is confident working within the complexities of an EBA and underpinning Award environment.

You have a track record of optimising people systems (ideally Employment Hero or similar) and are highly proficient across Microsoft tools including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel and PowerPoint. With a solid understanding of employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards and the National Employment Standards, you provide reliable, practical advice while maintaining a sharp eye for compliance and detail.

Known for your excellent interpersonal skills, you build trusted relationships and bring a proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach to your work. Above all, you are committed to delivering an exceptional candidate and employee experience.

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources (or equivalent experience) are desirable, and experience in the not-for-profit or family violence sector will be highly regarded.
