About Scootery: Scootery Melbourne is a specialist motorcycle and scooter workshop based in Melbourne. Alongside servicing customer-owned bikes, we maintain our own rental fleet, so the workshop runs at a steady pace and the work is varied. We're a small, hands-on team that takes pride in safe, high-quality workmanship.
The Role We're looking for a qualified, experienced Motorcycle Mechanic to join our workshop on a full-time basis. You'll diagnose, service, repair and road-test motorcycles and scooters — working primarily on Japanese brands — and help keep our rental fleet in top condition.
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
- Listening to engines, discussing motorcycle behaviour with customers, reading manufacturers' specifications and using diagnostic equipment to determine the nature and extent of mechanical or electrical malfunctions.
- Inspecting, dismantling, repairing, replacing and reassembling engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering and suspension components, and electrical and fuel systems, using hand tools, machine tools and workshop equipment.
- Carrying out scheduled servicing and routine maintenance on motorcycles and scooters according to manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, including wiring, ignition, charging and lighting systems.
- Reassembling, testing and adjusting parts and motorcycles to ensure correct operation.
- Conducting road tests and final inspections to confirm motorcycles are operating safely and efficiently.
- Performing safety inspections and quality control checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with workshop standards.
- Preparing and maintaining rental fleet motorcycles to a high standard of presentation and reliability.
- Completing accurate service records, job cards, and reporting any further mechanical issues identified.
- Maintaining workshop cleanliness, tools, equipment and safe work practices in line with WHS requirements.
Skills and Experience Required
- A relevant qualification in motorcycle mechanics or a recognised overseas equivalent.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience servicing and repairing motorcycles and scooters, with a strong focus on Japanese brands (e.g. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki).
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults, including the use of diagnostic tools and reading workshop manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Reliable, proactive and solutions-focused attitude — comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role
- Good communication skills in English, sufficient to interpret manufacturer specifications, complete service records, and discuss work with customers and colleagues.
- A current motorcycle licence (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.
What We Offer: Full-time ongoing role, a varied workload across customer bikes and our own rental fleet, and a supportive, hands-on team environment.
How to Apply Please submit your CV and a short cover letter outlining your qualification, your experience with motorcycles and scooters (including the brands you've worked on), and your availability. Only applicants with the legal right to work in Australia, or those eligible for relevant work sponsorship, will be considered. Applications close 10/06/2026
