The Role
The role of the Senior Policy Officer, Marrung Team is to engage, partner and collaborate with the First Peoples community, including Aboriginal organisations and the wider TAFE network. The work will involve co-designing, implementing and monitoring programs to achieve better outcomes for First Nations learners.
Main accountabilities:

Lead the strategic direction for self-determination and advise on policy and program interventions to improve access and outcomes for Aboriginal learners, industry and communities

Oversight, leadership and governance of the new 2026 – 2036 Marrung Education Strategy (for the Skills and TAFE portfolio), the Wurreker strategy, First Nations languages and key stakeholder engagement

Lead strategic engagement with individual TAFEs and the VTN, including Victorian TAFE Network, Strategic Engagement meetings and good practice fora.

Build assurance and the reputation of TAFE, including through strategic communications and branding, and responding to individual, industry and community interests
The Team
The position of Senior Policy Officer- Strategy forms a part of the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery within the Skills and TAFE group.
Skills and TAFE (S&T) focuses on enabling Victorians to access the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to participate in today's workforce, prepare for future jobs, and achieve their educational aspirations. The Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD) incorporating the TAFE Strategy, Systems and Tertiary Governance branch and the TAFE Performance, Finance and Infrastructure branch, plays a system leadership and management role for the Victorian TAFE Network (VTN) across Victoria.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

Stakeholder Engagement: Builds respectful relationships with a range of stakeholders, including colleagues, communities and delivery partners.

Project Delivery: Plans, coordinates and delivers programs or projects to meet agreed outcomes. Monitors progress and adjusts work as needed, seeking guidance when appropriate.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Considers issues from multiple viewpoints including cultural, community, sector and organisational perspectives to develop practical recommendations and effective solutions.

Experience working with First Nations stakeholders is highly desirable including policy and program delivery
