About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Full Time professional Duty Manager to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of Melbourne Sports and Aquatic centre (MSAC) (and Lakeside Stadium as required). The Duty Manager oversees all operational safety and emergency management during operating hours, ensuring the safety of patrons and staff, spectators, officials, athletes, contractors and visitors alike. They serve as the primary escalation point for incidents, issues, and emergencies, working closely with venue management to address and resolve unplanned events.
The Duty Manager team collectively manages the operational roster across venues, oversees the incident database, coordinates incident reviews, maintains safety records, manages security and access control, and supports the Venues teams.
As a Duty Manager your primary responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day safety and security of venue staff, patrons, and facilities
- Acting as Chief Warden during emergency situations
- Representing SSCT professionally in all interactions with stakeholders
- Identifying, reporting and mitigating potential risks associated with venue activities
- Providing leadership and guidance to staff
- Monitoring activities using Access Monitoring & CCTV systems
- Ensuring the facility is safe prior to opening and respond to incidents promptly
- Applying first aid and managing emergency situations
- Troubleshoot and managing issues onsite
- Overseeing contractor inductions and management
- Leading and participating in simulated emergency evacuations
- Conducting visual inspections and daily audits of the facility
- Liaising with venue hirers during larger events
- Assisting in the management of spectators at major events
- Reporting violations of rules and safe practices
- Contributing to the preparation of annual operational budgets
- Assisting Operations Managers with project implementation
Required skills and Qualifications:
- Current Pool Lifeguard and First Aid certificates including CPR and Advanced Resuscitation, and First Aid management of Asthma and Anaphylaxis
- Current Working with Children Check
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Australian driver’s licence
- Aquatic Technical Operator
- Experience managing staff, contractors, and stakeholders in a sporting venue environment
- Demonstrated experience in a management or supervisory role in large facilities
- Experience in WH&S policies, risk, and emergency management
- Understanding of quality standards in venue presentation and operations
- Evidence of strong stakeholder relationship management and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of the Sport and Recreation industry
- Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to control risk at events and enforce crowd control practices
- Maintain required qualifications and participate in training sessions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
