Portal Contractors is a specialist earthworks and excavation contractor delivering complex basement and civil works on Tier 1 commercial projects across Melbourne. From deep excavation and bulk earthworks to piling, capping beams, shotcrete walls, and full retention systems.
We're looking for an experienced Piling Rig Operator to join our crew on major civil and structural projects. This is hands-on, high-volume work for an operator who knows their machine, works safely, and takes pride in getting holes in the ground accurately and on program.
What you'll be doing
- Operating piling rigs (bored/CFA piling) safely and productively across live construction sites
- Setting up and positioning the rig to set-out marks
- Drilling piles to specified depth, diameter and tolerance, working closely with surveyors and engineers
- Monitoring rig performance and ground conditions, and flagging issues early
- Daily pre-start checks, greasing and routine maintenance to keep the rig in top condition
- Working in with the piling crew on cage placement, concrete pours and clean-up
- Supporting capping beam, retention and bulk earthworks operations as directed
- Maintaining a safe, organised work zone at all times
What you need
- Proven experience operating piling rigs on commercial or civil projects
- Relevant high-risk work / plant tickets for the machine(s) operated
- White Card (General Construction Induction Card)
- Strong understanding of set-out, tolerances and safe piling practice
- Reliable attendance — you show up, on time, every day
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- Good communication and the ability to follow directions safely
- Valid driver's licence

- Relevant plant / high-risk work licence (Required)
- CFMEU Membership (Preferred)

Pay: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour
