The role for the subcontractor:
Assist an experienced solo performer with setting up (bump in) & packing up (bump out) of a theatre in education show at primary schools in Melbourne & interstate.
Includes working with the solo performer to unload the ute of gear at schools, wheel into the school halls & setup props & costumes from suitcases, 2 speakers on stands, 3 staging panels, backdrop curtain, 4 lights on stands, 2 projectors on stands, 2 projection screens & seats for teachers around the audience for the one-man stage show. No tech, performing or interaction with students required. 30-60 minute break from 9am each day as 1 or 2 shows are performed, then reverse bump out before moving to second school to repeat for a single show in the afternoon. Another 30 minute break from usually 2.30pm. Roadie to share driving or if not fully licenced then all driving done by performer. All tech, interaction with staff & students is done by the performer, so the roadie just gets to focus on bump in & bump out at top speed twice a day.
When in Melbourne departure & return each day to Blackburn Nth area or can meet at schools.
When interstate we free-camp in a top-of-the-line offroad Kimberley Kamper camper trailer with full kitchen, hot water, internal hot air heating & 2 beds. All meals & this accommodation are supplied when interstate, as is a campfire when time & location permits. Accommodation in the camper trailer is a shared space with the male performer & roadie in separate beds or a separate swag can be provided for the roadie if preferred. Some experience camping would certainly be a bonus. This is a very practical tour, so the roadie should have realistic expectations of what touring & free-camping entails. A positive attitude is very important for touring.
Roadie must be strong, reliable, prompt, have a great work ethic, positive attitude & ability to work fast. Driver's licence is preferred to give the performer a break on longer trips when interstate, but is not a strict prerequisite in order to apply.
Please include surname, ABN & WWCC card number to confirm it on the government website as required by law.
Some reasonably heavy lifting of speakers, etc is required, so applicants must be physically fit & have no issues or pre-existing injuries that would hinder this work.
Performance dates: July 26-August 20 (NSW/ACT $4,680), August 21 & 24-28 & 31-September 4 (Melbourne $1,650), September 7-11 (Regional VIC $870), September 14-17 (Melbourne $600), September 18-24 (VIC/SA $1,410), October 7-9 (Regional VIC $510).
