Position Summary

Lift+ Cafe is a premium café based in St Kilda, Melbourne, offering high-quality matcha, specialty beverages, and refined baked goods in a customer-focused environment.

Located in a busy hospitality precinct, we operate as a dine-in and takeaway venue serving both locals and visitors.

Lift+ is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pastry Cook (Specialist) to take a key role in the preparation, refinement, and production of high-quality baked and pastry products.

Key Responsibilities

Pastry & Baking Production

Prepare and produce a range of baked and pastry products including cakes, cookies, and specialty items
Work with specialised ingredients, including gluten-free flours and alternative sweeteners, to produce consistent, high-quality baked products.
Execute recipes with precision to ensure consistent taste, texture, and presentation
Measure, mix, prepare and bake pastry doughs, batters and fillings using premium raw ingredients
Decorate and finish cakes, pastries and desserts to a high standard.
Apply advanced pastry techniques in daily production
Demonstrate commercial café or bakery experience essential for this role

Product Development & Refinement

Contribute to the development and refinement of pastry and baked recipes

Adjust formulations to improve consistency, shelf-life, and production efficiency

Support innovation of new products aligned with the Lift+ brand

Production Oversight

Manage daily pastry and baking production schedules

Coordinate batch production to meet business demand

Monitor ingredient usage and minimise waste

Quality Control & Compliance

Ensure all products meet food safety and regulatory standards in Australia

Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen

Support accurate labelling and compliance for packaged goods

Team Leadership & Training

Train and guide junior staff in pastry techniques and production standards

Ensure adherence to recipes, SOPs, and quality expectations

Foster a consistent and efficient production environment

Key Requirements

Relevant qualification in Patisserie or Commercial Cookery
Minimum 1 years experience as a Pastry Cook
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking science, and ingredient functionality
Experience in commercial or high-volume production environments
Understanding of food safety standards in Australia
High attention to detail and consistency
Ability to work as part of a team unsupervised
Strong communication skills
Previous experience in team leadership and/or menu development will be highly regarded
