About the Radiation Oncology Department

The Radiation Oncology department is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. The department is located at the Austin Health Heidelberg Campus, from the Emergency Department through to bed-based services and ongoing ambulatory care.

Austin Health operates 2 Radiotherapy Centres. Our Metropolitan site is located at the Olivia Newton John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJ Centre) in Heidelberg. Our regional site, Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC) is located within the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC). Both sites provide comprehensive cancer services coupled to Wellness Centres, ensuring patients and their carers benefit from this holistic approach to patient centred care.

About the role

Applications are invited to apply for multiple Casual Radiation Therapist opportunities at the Olivia Newton John Cancer, Wellness and Research Centre, where you will work collaboratively with a supportive team of professionals, who are passionate about providing best practice care for patients. You’ll enjoy our continuing education and quality improvement strategy, which is developed through leadership forums and committees.

You’ll join a friendly and supportive team who genuinely enjoy their work and the contribution they make.

A regular day will see you:

Assess and treat patients, liaising as appropriate with family members and caregivers to promote patient care
Facilitate a coordinated approach to total patient management by working with other team members where required
Participate in continuing education activities
Collaborate with multiple teams across the division

About You

You are a patient-focused Radiation Therapist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for patients. You bring enthusiasm, initiative and a continuous learning mindset, embracing opportunities to further develop your clinical expertise while contributing positively to a supportive and dynamic team.

You will also demonstrate:

The ability to coordinate, deliver and accurately document high-quality patient care.
A commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and embracing innovation and change.

Your clinical experience will enable you to integrate seamlessly into our team. Experience in radiation therapy planning using the Elekta Monaco treatment planning system and/or treatment delivery on Elekta linear accelerators will be highly regarded and position you for success in this role.

We also encourage applications from previous learners who have completed clinical placements at the ONJ Centre.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A recognised qualification in Radiation Therapy and current registration with AHPRA.
A current Victorian Department of Health Radiation Use Licence.
A commitment to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care.
