About Austin Health Pathology

Austin Health Pathology is a department of Austin Health and provides service to not only Austin Health and the co-located Mercy Hospital for Women, but also to numerous GPs and Specialists in the Victorian metropolitan and regional community. Austin Health Pathology is currently expanding into the Hume, Loddon Mallee and Goulburn Valley areas of regional Victoria, with laboratories in Bendigo, Shepparton, Mildura, Echuca and Swan Hill, and a point-of-care network including Castlemaine, Kerang, Kyneton, Seymour, Cohuna and Kyabram.

Austin Health Pathology is committed to providing high quality patient care through routine and complex diagnostic services, expert advice and support for teaching and research. The Immunopathology Department, within Austin Health Pathology, offers diagnostic testing to aid the investigation of autoimmune disorders, plasma cell dyscrasias and allergic diseases.

About the role

This is a full time, 12 month registrar position based at Austin Health Pathology in Heidelberg, with reporting responsibilities within the Immunopathology Laboratory under the supervision of the Immunopathologists.

A regular day will see you:

Support Immunopathology Laboratory scientific staff
Liaise with clinicians and scientists regarding Immunopathology testing and results
Involvement in quality processes, research and teaching
Attend one outpatient clinic per week

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

Medical training and experience applicable to the Immunopathology Laboratory
Medical qualifications recognised by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
An enthusiastic and collaborative approach to teamwork
Effective communication and clinical liaison skills
Critical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Expertise in using information technology and laboratory systems
