Experienced Picture Framer (Custom Framing Specialist)
Location: Thomastown, VIC
Opticon Framing is one of Melbourne's leading custom picture framing businesses, with over 40 years of experience and three retail locations across Victoria. We specialise in museum-quality framing, fine art, memorabilia, photography, conservation framing, and custom TV frames.
We are looking for an experienced Picture Framer more than 1 year to join our production team. Please apply only if you have previous professional picture framing experience. Applications from cabinet makers, carpenters, general factory workers, or other trades without picture framing experience will not be considered.
What You'll Be Doing
- Custom picture framing from start to finish
- Measuring, cutting and joining mouldings
- Mounting artwork using conservation techniques
- Cutting and assembling matboards
- Glass cutting and fitting
- Final assembly, quality control and packaging
- Working with artwork, photography, memorabilia and canvas
- Operating professional framing equipment safely and efficiently
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a professional picture framer is essential
- Strong knowledge of framing materials and conservation practices
- High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual and committed to producing high-quality work
- Experience with complex or museum-quality framing is highly regarded
