Position Description: Workshop Supervisor

Overview:
The Workshop Supervisor at Safetek Solutions is a important leadership role, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of our manufacturing workshop in Queensland. This position ensures that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Production Supervisor will play a pivotal role in managing workflow, scheduling, customer communication, and staff performance, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
This role will see you spend 60% of your time 'on the tools,' and 40% supervising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily production workflows, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Create and maintain production schedules to optimise efficiency and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with staff and other departments to ensure seamless production processes.
- Monitor progress on all work orders, addressing any issues or delays promptly.
- Address machinery and equipment outages and scheduled maintenance requirements; adapting the production schedule as necessary.
Work Order and Quoting Management:
- Generate work orders from customer quotes, ensuring accuracy and clarity for production staff.
- Assist with input for quoting customer projects
Customer Liaison:
- Liaise with Operations Manager and communication directly with customers to manage expectations, provide updates, and address inquiries or concerns.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality products and adhering to agreed timelines.
Staff Management and Training:
- Supervise workshop staff, including tradespeople, trades assistants, and apprentices.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to build a skilled and motivated team.
- Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate development opportunities for staff.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to improve productivity and morale.
Purchasing and Inventory Management:
- Manage procurement of materials and supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled jobs.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the operations manager to optimise stock levels.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing.
Process Optimisation and Continuous Improvement:
- Analyse current production processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement new procedures to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Collaborate with the operations manager and other supervisors to share best practices across the business.
Health and Safety:
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety checks and address any hazards or risks promptly.
- Ensure staff are trained in safe work practices and use of equipment.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, work orders, and staff performance.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the operations manager on workshop activities and performance.
- Ensure all documentation, including QA forms, is completed and filed appropriately.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Proven experience in a production or workshop supervisor role, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with staff, customers, and suppliers.
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Intermediate computer skills, with ability to use existing platforms and systems, online forms, emails, timesheets, online ordering
Qualifications and Experience:
- Trade qualification or equivalent experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a related field.
- Experience with quoting, production scheduling, and workflow management.
- Familiarity with inventory management and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
- Competence with production software and systems is desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
