LIFE IN THE ROLE

Reporting to the Randwick Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time role is responsible for maintaining the course proper, training tracks, and grounds at Royal Randwick Racecourse, ensuring they are always presented in the best possible condition. This position plays a vital role in the success of our carnival race days and in creating a memorable experience for all who attend.

1 x Groundsperon position
Plus opportunities for individuals who prefer to join casually

Key accountabilities of the role include:

Undertake general maintenance work including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions
Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operations
Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfaces
Working hours on non-race days: 8:30 – 5:00pm
Race day vs non-race day roster. During a race week you will work Tue-Sat, when it’s not a race week the work will be Mon-Fri

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess:

Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management is preferred but not required
General operational and mechanical maintenance skills
Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts preferred but not required
Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable
Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals
A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team
Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Enjoy working outdoors
A can do attitude
