Downer Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) is a leader in delivering high-quality rollingstock manufacturing and overhaul services across Queensland and Australia. We’re currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team in Maryborough.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role within our production team, working on the assembly, maintenance, and overhaul of rollingstock. This is a hands-on position where your expertise will contribute to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality rail solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble rollingstock and associated components
- Overhaul and assemble passenger vehicle and locomotive bogies
- Service and overhaul braking systems and pneumatic components
- Diagnose faults across various rollingstock fleets
Complete documentation, inspection reports, and check sheets

About You
- Trade qualified – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter)
- Experience in rollingstock manufacturing or overhaul (desirable, not essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused
Professional attitude with strong communication skills
