About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Aged or Disabled Carers to join our growing team. The successful candidates will provide direct care and support to elderly persons and individuals living with disabilities, assisting them to maintain their independence and quality of life within their homes and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care activities including showering, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Support clients with mobility, transfers, transportation, and communication needs.
- Assist clients with daily living activities and household tasks as required.
- Implement individual care plans, support plans, and rehabilitation programs.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
- Monitor and report changes in clients’ health, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Assist with rehabilitation exercises and therapy programs under professional direction.
- Support clients in participating in community, recreational, and social activities.
- Administer or assist with medications in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Promote client dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and safety at all times.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
Skills and Qualifications Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a relevant AQF Certificate III or higher qualification in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability Support, Community Services, or a related field; or have at least 2 years of relevant work experience that may substitute for formal qualifications.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as an Aged or Disabled Carer, Personal Care Assistant, Disability Support Worker, or a closely related occupation.
- Demonstrated experience providing personal care and support services to elderly persons or individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport preferred.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
