Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer , which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence . Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Canberra to work on MIWS projects.
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Provide high ‑ level executive and administrative support , including managing sensitive information, coordinating executive inbox priorities, organising meetings, maintaining agendas, and producing minutes and action items.
Support contract, finance and governance activities , including coordinating S23 and ETP funding approvals, assisting with budgeting queries, and ensuring compliance with Defence legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
Prepare and manage project documentation , contributing to briefs, correspondence, reports, HoG task responses, and Objective record ‑ keeping to support senior leadership and project teams.
Coordinate and assist project teams , ensuring accurate reporting, escalation of issues, and providing surge support across data, risk, FIC, events and other project functions as required.
Strong executive ‑ level administrative capability , including handling confidential information, managing executive inboxes, coordinating tasking, and supporting senior leaders day ‑ to ‑ day.
Experience in Defence project environments , with the ability to interpret and apply legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, including funding pathways such as S23 and ETP processes.
Financial and contract ‑ support skills , including assisting with budgeting queries, coordinating approvals, and supporting procurement activities within Defence systems.
High ‑ quality communication and documentation skills , demonstrated through preparing briefs, correspondence, reports, secretariat outputs and maintaining structured records in Objective.
Strong coordination and stakeholder ‑ support capability , working effectively with project managers, providing surge support across functions (risk, data, FIC, events), and supporting RAN and sponsor RFIs.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
