The opportunity
We are in the market for an experienced Playground Maintenance Officer. You are passionate about your profession and enjoy the rewards of a good challenge.
As Playground Maintenance Officer you will ensure the safety, cleanliness and functionality of public play areas are maintained through regular inspections, repairs and landscaping. Key duties include auditing equipment for hazards, managing softfall surfaces, installation, repairing structures, minor project support and daily operational tasks that contribute to safe and well-maintained recreational environments for the community.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or horticulture
- Ability to use power tools and small plant equipment, with trade experience (e.g., carpentry) preferred
- Hold a current MR class national driver’s licence
- Current White Card
- Experience in the maintenance, installation and repair of playground equipment, fencing, shelters and park furniture
- Ability to conduct playground safety audits, equipment inspections and apply relevant Australian Standards
- Experience overseeing minor project works and coordinating contractors as required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to complete maintenance records, reports and asset information
- Proven ability to work independently, apply sound judgement and contribute positively within a team environment
- Well developed organisational, problem solving and customer service skills when engaging with community members and colleagues

- The salary for this role commences at step 1, with potential for movement within the range based on demonstrated skills and experience. Incremental progression typically occurs at the conclusion of each 12-month period, in accordance with the Industrial Agreement.
