Perth Spanner Worx is an established automotive mechanical repair and maintenance workshop located in Bentley, Western Australia. We specialise in European vehicles while servicing and repairing a broad range of makes and models, including passenger vehicles, 4WDs, light commercial vehicles and diesel vehicles.
Our workshop provides comprehensive automotive services including vehicle servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs, brakes, clutches, suspension, steering, transmissions, electrical repairs, diesel servicing, tune-ups and logbook servicing. We use modern diagnostic equipment and quality parts to provide reliable repairs and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our workshop on a full-time permanent basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, servicing, testing and repairing petrol and diesel-powered light motor vehicles and their associated mechanical and electrical systems. The position will involve working across various vehicle makes and models, with exposure to European vehicles, 4WDs and light commercial vehicles.
The role requires strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities together with practical experience in engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering and related vehicle systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful Motor Mechanic will be responsible for:
· Detecting, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
· Diagnosing vehicle faults with the assistance of computerised diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
· Inspecting engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension, braking systems and other mechanical components to identify faults, wear and repair requirements.
· Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other vehicle components as required.
· Repairing and replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
· Reassembling engines, mechanical assemblies and vehicle components following repairs.
· Performing scheduled and preventative maintenance including oil and filter changes, lubrication, tune-ups and manufacturer-recommended servicing.
· Servicing and repairing braking, steering, suspension, clutch and transmission systems.
· Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical parts and vehicle systems to ensure correct operation, performance and safety.
· Carrying out post-repair testing and inspections before vehicles are returned to customers.
· Reading and referring to manufacturer specifications, technical information and service manuals when diagnosing and carrying out repairs.
· Maintaining appropriate workshop and service records relating to inspections, diagnosis, maintenance and repairs.
· Using workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and machinery safely and correctly.
· Maintaining a clean and safe work area and complying with applicable workplace health and safety procedures.
· Working collaboratively with other workshop staff to ensure repairs and servicing are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
· Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or a relevant equivalent automotive qualification.
· Certificate IV or Diploma in related fields are highly desirable.
· Minimum of one year of relevant practical experience in the servicing, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of light motor vehicles.
· Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
· Practical knowledge of petrol and/or diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems.
· Ability to interpret technical information, manufacturer specifications and workshop/service manuals.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a workshop team.
