An exciting opportunity exists within the NSW Fair Trading Strata & Property Services Commission for an Inspector to join our Strata & Property Compliance team.
We are looking for motivated and professional individuals with a genuine interest in the strata & property sectors and a commitment to improving compliance outcomes.
Reporting to a Principal Inspector, you will work closely with the Strata Compliance team to investigate matters, gather evidence, prepare reports, and provide advice. You will have carriage of your own matters and work collaboratively to ensure optimal compliance outcomes.
The work of the team is varied but predominately involves carrying out compliance activities to support consumers and licensed operators across strata, real estate, retirement villages, residential land lease communities and conveyancing.
This is an opportunity to work in a specialist regulatory environment that focuses on strengthening confidence in the strata industry through education, inspections, compliance activities and targeted regulatory action.

About the Team
The Strata & Property Compliance team undertakes inspections, audits and compliance activities across the strata and property services industries.
The team undertakes the following functions:

Promotes understanding of legislative obligations.

Identify and address compliance risks.

Encourage best practice and professional standards.

Support fair and transparent outcomes for NSW strata communities.
About the Role
As an Inspector, you will:

Conduct inspections and audits
-
Assess compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Gather and analyse information and evidence to support compliance outcomes.
-
Prepare reports, correspondence and recommendations.
-
Engage with public, licenced traders and other stakeholders.
-
Provide education and guidance to support compliance and industry best practice.
-
Participate in regulatory projects and compliance initiatives across all regulatory sectors.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and address emerging risks.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have

Experience in compliance, auditing, regulatory, investigative, strata management or related work.

An interest in, or understanding of, the strata and property services industry.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

The ability to assess information and apply legislation, policies and procedures.

Sound judgement, attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

A commitment to professionalism, integrity and customer service.
Essential Requirements
-
Demonstrated experience in compliance, regulatory, audit, investigation or similar activities.

Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or willingness to obtain).

Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to undertake regular field-based inspections and site visits.
