About Your Role:
As a Mentor at AMS, you’ll be a game-changer—providing personalised support and acting as a social role model to help participants enhance their independence. You will empower individuals by assisting them with daily living skills, social activities, and pathways to education and employment.
You’ll work both independently and within a vibrant team environment, always respecting the rights, choices, and self-determination of the people you support. We are looking for Permanent Part-Time Mentors in Campbelltown, Parramatta, Liverpool and Wollongong.
Key Responsibilities:

Providing specialised support to participants with Autism, ABI, mental health conditions, and complex behaviours in AMS-operated accommodations, their homes, and the community.
- Offering unconditional positive regard and fostering a safe, supportive environment.
- Assisting participants in building essential life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, meal planning, and budgeting.
- Engaging in social and recreational activities to help develop meaningful relationships and social networks.
- Implementing Individual Support Plans and Behaviour Support Plans tailored to each participant’s needs.
- Flexibility to work within a 24/7 rotating roster, including overnight shifts and weekends. (Shifts are 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm -6am)
About You:
You are empathetic, non-judgemental, and resilient—a true catalyst for change. With experience in Mental Health, Disability, Youth Work, or a related field, you understand the unique challenges our participants face. You celebrate every small success and have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and mediation.

Beyond Independence AMS provides a unique, fully tailored service for participants seeking to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the community with new skills. We focus on: Young people leaving care who need ongoing support due to intellectual disability or complex needs. Individuals reintegrating after prison, juvenile justice, or mental health facilities. People with intellectual disabilities and complex needs, including mental health challenges, behaviours of concern, substance abuse, and trauma histories. Our mentoring ensures participants can: Learn new skills Build prosocial relationships Contribute to their community Improve overall well-being Make safe, independent choices We provide non-judgmental, personalised support across Sydney and Wollongong, with plans to expand into rural communities.
