About the Role
McAfee Plastering & Spraying Pty Ltd is seeking two experienced Fireproofing Nozzlemen to join our team in Logan, Greater Brisbane Regional Area, Queensland.
The successful applicants will work on major commercial and infrastructure projects involving the application of vermiculite-based fireproofing systems to structural steel and associated substrates.
This is a specialist role requiring previous experience in high-production spray-applied passive fire protection works using pump-applied cementitious and vermiculite fireproofing materials.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Application of vermiculite and cementitious fireproofing materials to structural steel and associated substrates.
- Operation of high-production fireproofing spray pumps and ancillary equipment.
- Set up, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of fireproofing pumping systems.
- Monitoring material consistency, density, and application thicknesses to project specifications.
- Working with high-volume pumping systems on large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and fireproofing specifications.
- Working safely in accordance with site safety requirements and company procedures.
- Coordination with supervisors and other trades to maintain production targets and programme requirements.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have previous experience applying vermiculite or cementitious spray-applied fireproofing materials.
- Be experienced in the operation of high-production fireproofing pumps and pumping methods.
- Have demonstrated experience on large commercial or infrastructure fireproofing projects.
- Be capable of achieving high-production application rates while maintaining quality standards.
- Hold trade qualifications as a Solid Plasterer or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
- Have a strong understanding of spray-applied passive fire protection systems and site practices.
- Be physically fit and capable of manual work in construction environments.
- Hold a valid driver’s licence.
Desirable Experience
Preference will be given to applicants with experience using products such as:
- Isolatek Type 300 Series
- CAFCO® 300
- Monokote or similar vermiculite fireproofing systems
Experience with equipment such as Putzmeister, Western, Hy-Flex, or similar high-output pumping systems will be highly regarded.
Salary
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the applicable MP&S Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) and will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills, and industry experience.
Pay: $110,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
