We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Dental Assistant / Receptionist who is passionate about patient care and enjoys working in a fast-paced dental environment.
Position Summary
The Dental Assistant / Receptionist plays a vital role in supporting our clinical team while delivering outstanding customer service to patients. This dual-role position involves chairside dental assisting, infection control, patient management, appointment scheduling, and front desk administration.
Key ResponsibilitiesDental Assisting Duties
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists during a wide range of dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms before and after patient appointments.
- Maintain strict infection control and sterilisation protocols.
- Process and sterilise instruments according to industry standards.
- Take and record patient medical histories where required.
- Prepare dental materials and equipment for procedures.
- Assist with digital scans, CBCT imaging, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of clinical supplies.
- Ensure treatment rooms remain clean, organised, and fully equipped.
Reception Duties
- Greet patients in a warm and professional manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient enquiries.
- Manage appointment bookings and recalls.
- Process payments and health fund claims.
- Handle patient records and maintain confidentiality.
- Coordinate daily appointment schedules for dentists and hygienists.
- Manage patient correspondence, emails, and SMS reminders.
- Support the practice manager with administrative tasks.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant and/or Dental Receptionist preferred.
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting (preferred but not essential).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment.
- Professional presentation and positive attitude.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn dental software systems.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
