About the opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Radio and Telecommunications, you'll be primarily responsible within your geographical area for ensuring the 24x7 operation, maintenance and support of the NSW Ambulance digital and analogue Private Mobile Radio (PMR), related assets such as mobile and portable radios including connectivity to the Public Safety Network (PSN), satellite phones, and supporting ICT infrastructure at stations and control centres. The Technician may from time-to-time perform this primary responsibility in areas outside of their area of responsibility at the request of the Manager Telecommunications.
A critical aspect of the role is the 24x7 Operational support of telecommunications during significant incidents and events, for example bush fires and adverse weather.

About you
You are a proactive, experienced telecommunications technician with a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for supporting frontline emergency services. You are comfortable working independently across varied locations and handling high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.
You will bring:
- A proactive approach to fault finding, maintenance, and system reliability.
- A strong safety mindset with a commitment to WHS practices and procedures.
- The flexibility and resilience to be part of a 24/7 support roster, including response to emergencies and natural disasters.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to document and manage assets accurately.
A continuous improvement mindset, with a desire to stay current in emerging technologies and best practices within the telecommunications and ICT fields.

Conditions
- There is no entitlement to Transferred Employees Benefit (TEB) or travel allowance associated with this opportunity.
- No NSW Ambulance accommodation is provided.
- Employees currently undertaking an Extended Care Paramedic or Intensive Care Paramedic consolidation periods are eligible to apply however will need to complete all training and return of service obligations before accepting any relief/acting opportunities.
- Employees currently undertaking a Special Operations Team (SOT) consolidation period are not eligible to apply for positions other than SOT positions. This includes positions offered via merit selection, transfer lists or later transfer mechanism, expressions of interest or secondments.
