About the Role
Reporting to the Op Shop Store Manager, the Retail Assistant is responsible for supervising a team of volunteers and assisting in overseeing the daily operations of the store to ensure profitability, sustainability and positive presence within the local community. We are looking for someone to join our Ferntree Gully store working on a permanent part-time, 3 days per fortnight, with the availability to work every Tuesday (with the other two days to be determined and discussed with the suitable applicant).
Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise a team of volunteers to the highest levels of performance and engagement.

Contribute to the management of the Op Shop’s operations including overseeing pricing, maximising profitability and achieving sales targets.

Provide a high level of service to customers to resolve customer queries and complaints

Positively represent RSPCA Victoria in the local community.

Effective and efficient stock management, visual merchandising and high-level retail operations to contribute to the profitability and sustainability of the Op Shop.

Assist in the induction of volunteers to ensure that the store has the appropriate resources in place to achieve their goals.

May involve occassional travel tom other Op Shop locations within Metro Melbourne (Bayswater, Burwood East, Camberwell, Elsternwick, Frankston, Highett, Mornington or South Yarra) to cover shifts as needed.
What we are looking for from you

Availability to work every Tuesday

Willingness to occassionally travel to other Op Shop locations (within Metro Melbourne), to support the team and cover additional shifts when needed.

Previous experience in a similar role that requires strong administration, customer service and organisational skills

Previous experience in retail management with a sound understanding of visual merchandising principles, ideally with specific experience in op-shop management.

Previous experience working with and managing volunteers.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment

Ability to work as part of collaboratively team as well as independently on occasions.
