The Carer Gateway Online Forum brings together unpaid carers from across Australia, to support and learn from one another. The forum is moderated 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
The Moderator ensures the provision of a safe, welcoming, and anonymous space for carers, assists in the development and publishing of appropriate content for the Forum, and collaborates with the team to promote the growth of the Forum and support programs for user engagement. This position also contributes toward the team’s contractual obligations by working on other platforms, including Facebook, and by facilitating accurate data collection and reporting, as well as contributing to any modifications to the service which may be required.
About the Role:
- Regular shifts are fixed days & times for this role, and therefore applicants must be available Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 12pm (total of 12 hours per week).
- The Forum operates 8am to 11pm (AEST) and 12pm (AEDT). This position includes occasional opportunities to take on additional day and evening shifts.
About you:
To be a successful candidate you will have:
- Previous experience or familiarity with online community management / moderation / social networking
- Demonstrated understanding of social skills such as conflict resolution and active listening skills as well as an understanding of risk and crisis for vulnerable populations
- Highly developed technical skills, and an ability to pick up new technical tools quickly.
- Strong administrative and excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Availability for optional additional shifts (day and evening) across a 7 day per week roster will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Desirable
- Experience and/or training in the counselling, mental health or related field
- Lived experience as a carer would be looked upon favourably.
