South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking a proactive and collaborative Human Resources Business Partner to help drive performance, accountability, and a positive workplace culture across the organisation.
In this role, you will work closely with leaders and employees to provide trusted advice, guidance, and hands-on support across the full employee lifecycle. From employee relations and performance management to recruitment, organisational development, workforce planning, and HR systems, you’ll play a key role in strengthening leadership capability and supporting a high-performing, engaged workforce.

As the Human Resources Business Partner, you will:
- Partner with leaders to provide practical, solutions-focused HR advice and support
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including interpretation of Awards, legislation, Enterprise Agreements, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes
- Support performance management, workplace investigations, grievances, and employee matters
- Prepare employment-related documentation including contracts, correspondence, and performance documentation
- Coach and support leaders in core HR practices and people management capability
- Contribute to organisational development, culture, wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
- Support the continuous improvement of HR systems, policies, procedures, and processes
You are an experienced HR professional with a strong customer focus and a proven ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation. You bring sound HR knowledge, a practical and solutions-focused approach, and the confidence to provide clear, timely advice in a complex working environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Qualifications in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong generalist HR experience across employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and HR operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations, Enterprise Agreements and HR best practice
- Experience providing trusted, solution-focused HR advice to managers and employees
- Experience working with HR systems, providing system support and administration, including supporting process improvement initiatives
- Strong communication, problem-solving , and stakeholder management skills
- Experience providing high-quality, customer-focused HR advice and support to leaders and employees
