Campbelltown Emergency Department (ED) is one of the busiest and most dynamic EDs in the region, delivering care across the full spectrum of emergency presentations including paediatrics, acute medical and surgical care, aged care, trauma and mental health.
We are seeking skilled and motivated Mental Health Registered Nurses to join our Emergency Department team, working within our dedicated 7-bedded Mental Health Pod in collaboration with both the ED and Mental Health teams to provide safe, therapeutic and recovery-focused care to consumers experiencing acute mental health presentations.
This unique role offers the opportunity to combine specialist mental health skills with the fast-paced and diverse environment of Emergency Nursing. You will play a key role in early recognition of deterioration, therapeutic engagement, de-escalation, risk assessment and supporting safe patient flow within the ED environment.

What Does The Role Involve?
Registered Nurses within the Mental Health Pod are responsible for:

Delivering person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care to consumers presenting with acute mental health needs

Conducting mental health assessments, behavioural observations and risk identification
-
Supporting de-escalation, early intervention and management of distressed or escalating consumers
-
Collaborating closely with ED clinicians, Mental Health teams, security, ambulance and community services
-
Coordinating care and supporting safe patient flow through the Emergency Department
-
Administering medications and implementing evidence-based interventionsSupporting patients, families and carers through periods of crisis and recovery

Contributing to a positive team culture, mentoring and ongoing quality improvement initiatives
