Leeton Shire Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Irrigation Technician to join our Open Space and Recreation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our community’s parks, reserves, and streetscapes.
The primary purpose:

Under the direction of the Open Space & Recreation Supervisor, the Irrigation Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance and servicing of Council's irrigation systems.
Duties: Specific duties are detailed in the Operations section of the position description, including but not limited to:
Monitor and maintain Council irrigation systems, ensuring Council standards are maintained in consultation with the Open Space & Recreation Supervisor and Coordinator.
Interpret and execute work from plans – Before you Dig Australia.
Design and install irrigation systems.
Assist the Supervisor with material budget preparations which entails recording and monitoring costs relating to the delivery of irrigation services in order to support Council planning and budgeting processes.
About You
We are looking for a team-oriented professional who has excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with the general public and fellow employees, as well as excellent problem solving and teamwork skills. The applicant must hold a current Class MR Truck Driver Licence.
Qualifications: Trade Certificate in Plumbing or Certificate 2 in Urban Irrigation or Horticulture or at least 4 years demonstrated related experience.
This position is Full Time– 38 hours per week with a fortnightly Rostered Day Off.
Salary: Grade 7 in Council’s salary system ($1,201.90 to $1,339.40 per week) depending upon qualifications and experience, plus 12% Superannuation.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully pass a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drug screening and a hearing test.
