Tasmandu, proudly operated by Singh Foundation, is looking for a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis at our Newstead restaurant in Launceston.
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 per annum + Superannuation (depending on qualifications and experience)

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking for long-term career stability within a growing hospitality group.
About the Role
As our Chef, you will play a key role in delivering consistently high-quality meals while maintaining exceptional food safety and kitchen standards. You will work closely with the management team to support daily kitchen operations and contribute to menu development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Nepalese dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Assist with menu planning and the development of new dishes and seasonal specials.
- Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Oversee daily food preparation and cooking operations.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness.
- Monitor stock levels, food storage, stock rotation, and inventory control.
- Assist with ordering food supplies and managing kitchen inventory.
- Minimise food wastage through effective stock management.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff when required.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef or Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of Nepalese cuisine and traditional cooking techniques.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work both independently and within a team.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Sound understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
