Full Job Description

.Head Chef / Soux Chef – Flaxton Gardens, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Flaxton Gardens is under new management. As a premium wedding venue, we are looking for an experienced Head Chef/Soux Chef who is ready to lead a team of dedicated people. Someone who can build and run a tight kitchen operation, take genuine ownership of the position and thrive in the high-volume, high-standards environment in a premium location. This is an exciting opportunity for you to showcase your talents as a chef and a leader.

The Role

You will take ownership of the kitchen operation end to end — from pre-opening setup through to daily service, rosters, team development, and ongoing menu refinement.

As well as weddings and functions, we run a small café/bar which caters for breakfast and lunch Wednesday to Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

§ Lead all kitchen operations across prep, service, and close. Maintaining a standard of excellence across every area.

§ Attention to detail. Excellent organisation and planning skills.

§ Creating new dishes and planning menus.

§ Oversee supplier relationships, ordering, and stock control

§ Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene standards in line with Queensland Health requirements.

§ Establish and maintain a good working relationship between whole team, front-of-house and kitchen to ensure seamless communication during service

What We're Looking For

§ Proven Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef experience in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.

§ Strong plating and presentation standards. The menu needs to look as good as it tastes

§ A leader who builds people up, stays calm under pressure, and holds the standard without compromise.

§ Solid understanding of kitchen financials — food cost, wastage, and labour costs, etc.

§ Current Food Safety Supervisor certification
