Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health & Psychosocial SupportsJoin a Team That Makes a Genuine Difference
THERAPY Mental Health is seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our growing team supporting participants with complex mental health, psychosocial disabilities, forensic backgrounds, and dual diagnoses.
We are currently recruiting for clients located across:
- Phillip Island
- Kilcunda
- Daylesford
This role is ideal for support workers who are confident working independently, can build strong therapeutic relationships, and have experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, trauma histories, mental health presentations, and high support needs.
About the Role
You will provide person-centred support to participants within their homes and communities, assisting them to work towards their individual goals while promoting independence, wellbeing, and community participation.Duties may include:
- Community access and social participation
- Mental health support and emotional regulation
- Assistance attending appointments
- Daily living and household support
- Medication prompting and wellbeing monitoring
- Behaviour support implementation
- Building life skills and independence
- Risk identification and reporting
- Supporting participants experiencing psychosocial distress
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Experience supporting people with complex mental health or psychosocial disabilities
- Strong understanding of professional boundaries and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to remain calm and responsive during challenging situations
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage risk effectively
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (where applicable)
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Smartphone and computer literacy
- Right to work in Australia
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Mental Health
- Certificate IV in Disability
- Community Services qualifications
- Experience supporting forensic, dual-diagnosis, or high-risk participants
- Medication administration training
- Mental Health First Aid
