Dog Walker / Dog Handler Wanted – Maternity Leave Position
I'm looking for a reliable and passionate dog walker/handler to take over my small dog care business BoneGiorno while I'm on maternity leave.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely loves dogs and is confident and experienced handling a variety of personalities and breeds in a structured, safety-focused environment.
Location: Kirrawee
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Hours: 7:30am – 6:00pm
Pay: Hourly rate as a contractor
Start: Late August / September till November / December 2026
Duration: 3 - 4 months
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to spend time training alongside me before I commence maternity leave, ensuring they feel confident and familiar with all aspects of the role.
What I'm looking for:
Experience handling dogs on leash (all dogs are under 12kg)
Strong understanding of dog body language and behaviour
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety practices
Genuine care and compassion for dogs
Reliable, punctual, and physically fit for a role involving standing and walking throughout the day
Great communication skills to maintain the strong relationships I've built with my clients
Responsibilities include:
Safely walking dogs on rotation throughout the neighbourhood
Supervising small play groups of up to two dogs
Cleaning up after dogs and maintaining a tidy environment
Setting up and packing up equipment
Managing client interactions during drop-off and pick-up
Safely handling dogs during transitions and handovers
Providing owners with updates about their dog's day
Taking videos and photos of dogs
