Your New Role:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Design Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services team. Reporting to the Design and Investigation Manager, you will play an important role in the investigation, planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects that support our community.
Working alongside experienced engineering professionals, including Design Officers, Surveyors, Civil/Traffic Engineers, and Stormwater Engineers, you will contribute to the successful delivery of Council's capital works and strategic infrastructure programs. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to further develop their technical, project management, and contract administration skills within a local government environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the investigation, planning, and design of civil infrastructure projects including roads, drainage, stormwater, traffic, and transport assets.
- Preparing engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, drawings, and project documentation.
- Supporting the delivery and management of infrastructure projects undertaken both internally and by external consultants and contractors.
- Reviewing consultant designs, technical documentation, and construction outputs to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Conducting site inspections, field investigations, condition assessments, and data collection activities.
- Assisting with project coordination activities including procurement, scheduling, stakeholder communication, and contract administration.
- Monitoring project performance against scope, budget, quality, safety, and time objectives.
- Contributing to drainage, stormwater, and traffic investigations and the development of engineering solutions.
- Supporting the administration and delivery of Council's capital works and maintenance programs.
- Responding to customer requests and engineering enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Promoting continuous improvement in engineering standards, project management systems, and operational processes.
- Maintaining a strong commitment to workplace health and safety and fostering a safety-first culture.

About You:
You are a proactive and detail-oriented engineering professional who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver practical infrastructure solutions. You are committed to delivering high-quality outcomes for the community while continuing to develop your technical and professional capabilities.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) qualification, or willingness to obtain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and engineering skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- General understanding of civil infrastructure and local government engineering projects.
