THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council's Infrastructure Services Division is seeking motivated and reliable General Labourers to join our team. As part of a multi-disciplinary workforce supporting Civil Operations and Building Trades, you will assist with the maintenance, construction and repair of roads, footpaths, drainage systems and other Council infrastructure assets.
In this hands-on role, you will undertake a variety of general labouring duties, operate plant and equipment, assist with traffic management activities and support infrastructure projects across the City. Duties include conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment, transporting materials to worksites, establishing safe work zones, undertaking maintenance and construction tasks, and working from construction plans and work instructions.

ESSENTIAL:
- Competent plant operating skills for various plant and equipment items used in Civil & Built construction
- Knowledge of WHS practices and job site safety
- Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility/Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations
- Experience in the Infrastructure Services (maintenance and construction) of civil and built infrastructure
- Ability to perform physically demanding labouring duties
- Basic ability to interpret construction plans.
- SafeWork General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Current class MR or HR NSW Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence (or willingness to obtain)
DESIRABLE:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent, full-time position, 76 hour, 9-day fortnight with one Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- This position is a Grade B, salary range is $62,249 p.a. with progression to $65,787 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $73,343p.a, plus 12% Superannuation
