Primary objective
The Head of Campus is a senior educational leader accountable for translating Katherine High School’s strategic improvement
agenda into effective practice, providing expert direction to staff, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality teaching and
learning in line with the school’s commitment to every person, every opportunity.
Context statement
Katherine High School is the only government secondary school in Katherine. It provides an educational service to students from
Year 7 to Year 12. In the Senior Years students are provided with multiple achievement pathways to ensure they receive the
education most appropriate to their needs. The school caters to a diverse population from a range of different social, educational,
and cultural backgrounds. Katherine High School has an offsite program, Katherine Flexible Learning and Engagement Centre and
provides an alternate program for disengaged and at risk teenagers in the Katherine area. The school takes great pride in its inclusive

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the implementation of priority areas of Katherine High School’s annual improvement agenda related to curriculum and
pedagogy. Provide professional development, feedback to staff and ongoing support to the leadership team through effective
coaching and mentoring.
2. Drive the continuous implementation and refinement of the Katherine High School model for instruction by leading evidence-
based teaching strategies and practices. Provide modelled teaching, observation, and feedback to teaching staff in the
implementation of the identified strategies.
3. Lead the identification and recruitment of appropriate human resources and shape organisational arrangements for the Grevillea
Campus, including the development of timetables, course offerings, and subject selections to meet the diverse learning needs
of students.
4. Lead the performance and professional practice of Heads of Faculty and Year Level Coordinators, holding them accountable
for data-driven improvement in teaching and learning outcomes at Katherine High School.
5. Provide strategic leadership and direction to staff on the alignment of Katherine High School’s practices with the NT
Department of Education’s Strategic Plan, with a particular focus on strengthening instruction for young Territorians, improving
cultural responsiveness, and supporting effective transitions beyond schooling.

School improvement.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead the management of campus physical, financial, and human resources.
5. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations, while developing and maintaining effective interpersonal
and cross cultural relationships within and beyond the school community.
Further information
The successful applicant must be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and hold a current
Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT, prior to appointment. As an integral part of the leadership team there
will be the requirement as needed and following a period of notice, for the Heads of Campus position to work during non-term
(stand down) times.
