Primary objective
Supervise the delivery of effective and efficient regulatory driver licensing and vehicle registrations services, with a focus on
a superior customer experience for Territorians.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Supervise the daily frontline operations functions of the Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Katherine office to ensure the
delivery of superior customer experience for Territorians.
2. Apply the principles and practices of continuous improvement to bring about change, resolve problems, increase the
standard of service delivery and implement operational efficiencies.
3. Monitor the performance of, and conduct performance reviews with, team members to recognise good performance and
identify training needs including mentoring and coaching on the job to build the capabilities of team members.
4. Exercise delegations as a Deputy Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
5. Liaise with internal and external customers and provide oral and written information and advice on complex driver
licensing and vehicle registration transactions.
6. Participate in recruitment activities, staff rostering and tasks allocation to ensure optimal service delivery.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven supervisory skills with a focus on leading and implementing continuous improvement activities, and commitment
to customer-centric service delivery.
2. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle confidential and
sensitive matters with empathy and interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
3. Ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced frontline operations environment, anticipate issues and
implement solutions to achieve business outcomes.
4. Proven experience in building and motivating teams including the ability to model required behaviours, undertake
performance management discussions, promote knowledge sharing and implement performance management plans.
5. Proven ability to understand, analyse and interpret policies and regulations including the exercise of good judgement and
independent decision making within delegated authority.
6. Sound interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact, resolve conflict and provide
acceptable outcomes for customers and staff.
7. Sound financial management skills and proven experience with complex ICT systems and other software packages such
as Mainframe database and Microsoft Office.
8. An understanding of Work Health and Safety matters as they apply to a workplace or the ability to acquire knowledge
within a short period.
Desirable
1. Sound knowledge of driver licensing and vehicle registration policy and procedures.
