Location: Kalgoorlie WA Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

The Health Promotion Coordinator – Cancer Services is an Aboriginal identified position, recognising the importance of cultural knowledge, lived experience, and community connection in delivering outcomes.

The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering culturally safe, community-led cancer prevention and health promotion initiatives that support improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This includes increasing awareness, supporting early detection, and improving participation in national screening programs, while strengthening culturally responsive care pathways in partnership with community, Elders, and clinical teams.

The position contributes to the Improving First Nations Cancer Outcomes Program and aligns with national and Closing the Gap priorities.

ESSENTIAL:

Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (identified position under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA)) and demonstrates a strong cultural connection, including respect for Elders, cultural authority, and local protocols, with an understanding of Aboriginal ways of being, doing and knowing
Demonstrated experience in health promotion and/or community engagement, with the ability to deliver culturally safe, strengths-based, and community-centred programs that reflect the diversity of Aboriginal communities
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the social, cultural, and historical determinants of health, with the ability to apply this knowledge to improve health outcomes
Ability to plan, coordinate and deliver programs, build trusted relationships with community and stakeholders, and communicate effectively across community, clinical, and partner settings
Ability to manage priorities, use data to inform program delivery, and demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement and evidence-informed practice, including valuing Aboriginal knowledge systems

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Current WA Driver’s Licence
Current Working with Children Check
National Police Clearance (valid within 3 months)
