We are seeking to establish a pool of Speech and Language Specialist for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The West Coast Language Development Centre (WCLDC) caters for around 300 students from kindergarten to year 2. We are situated across 4 sites in Padbury, Hamersley, Heathridge and Quinns Rocks.
Teachers can be located at any site and may move across sites over time. New teachers are provided with intensive, specific training and induction to develop skills and understanding of DLD and how best to meet the needs of the students. This support is ongoing and provided by mentor teachers, collaborative partners, and speech pathologists.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally possess extensive knowledge in planning for the speech and language needs of students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Speech and Language Specialists will need to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as possess the ability to work independently, in order to support class and whole of school language initiatives. Suitable applicants will need to develop and support the implementation of specialised language programs for students with identified speech and language difficulties.
In addition to the specialised language programs, suitable applicants will ideally display their ability to build the capacity of teachers, education assistants and parents. They will ideally support the strategic direction of the school through remaining abreast of current research and proactively distributing information through parent programs and professional learning opportunities for staff. The Speech and Language Specialists provide input to the development of school-based policy and plans in relation to the school’s language program.
West Coast LDC is a specialised school that supports students with DLD. The school has an intensive, early intervention student program for children from Kindergarten to Year 2 and an outreach program that works across mainstream schools. Staff are dedicated, highly collaborative and innovative, in order to support educational outcomes for all students.
